Random bad joke
A priest, a Rabbi and a Nun walk into a bar.
The bartender looks up and says ......
"Is this some kind of joke?"

Quotable Papists
This caught my eye on Friday as I was scanning google news
NEW YORK (Reuters) - The man in charge of Manhattan's St. Patrick's Day parade has fueled a controversy by saying allowing a gay group to join Friday's march would be like permitting neo-Nazis to participate in an Israeli parade.
In an interview with The Irish Times, parade committee chairman John Dunleavy defended the organizers' decision to bar the Irish Lesbian and Gay Organization from participating in the biggest St. Patrick's Day party in the world.
"If an Israeli group wants to march in New York, do you allow neo-Nazis into their parade? If African-Americans are marching in Harlem, do they have to let the Ku Klux Klan into their parade?" Dunleavy was quoted as saying.
"People have rights. If we let the ILGO in, is it the Irish Prostitute Association next?" he said.

Zorro and Proverbs
I didn't think they had much in common. Really would you ever put Zorro and the book of Proverbs together? Perhaps a little context is in order.
Last night we watch the new swashbuckling adventure The Legend of Zorro. Boy was it a hit! Sword fights, bullwhips, wildhoirse chases --- totally full of high adventure and excitment. You could feel the tension building as we neared the end of the movie and Zorro finally began serving up a much need dose of his own medicine to the antagonist. We get right to the end and just as the bad guy is flung to his fiery doom I hear Lydia lean over and say almost smugly to Megan and Natalie
"See he fell into his own pit!"
"Yeah:" they agree knowingly "he DID fall into his own pit"
These are the moments that make it all worthwhile.

She spelled it Phonetically
I had the 4 year old mite with me at work today. We get along smashingly but it can be a bit of a struggle to keep her productivly busy. I was having her color some alphebet coloring pages at the desk next to me. I guess it was a little bit beneath her -- she's mastered her vowel sounds (mostly) and is working on the consonants.
She flipped the "A is for apple" page over and began writing "words". After a few minutes with no small amount of satisfaction she announced "Dad I spelled Lydia"
I looked down and was immediately perplexed. All I saw on the page was 3 letters L T U. Not wanting to crush her enthusiam I used the age old "have the kids explain it so you don't make the kid feel dumb" tactitc.
Apparently I wasn't looking at it phonetically. "Daaad" she sighed "look- its Li-Tee-Uh"
OOOOOh Lydia. Silly me.

Ok so the flash plug-in from Google Video isn't working. But if you click HERE you can still see the video of the old lady shooting a FA MP40 from here wheel-chair!
That was what was too funny not to share!

It's in my blood ...what can I say?
Tip of the hat to Barry K. for alerting me to this.
I never had any doubt about it...Texas is in my blood!
